Massimo Ammaniti – University of Rome “La Sapienza” (Italy)

Massimo Ammaniti is Professor of Developmental Psychopathology at the Department of Psychology and Clinical Dynamics, School of Psychology, University of Rome “La Sapienza”.
He is a Member of the Board of Directors of the World Association of Infant Mental Health (WAIMH), President of the Italian Association for Infant Mental Health, Psychoanalyst of the International Psychoanalytical Association, Member of the Research Advisory Board of the International Psychoanalytical Association, Expert at INSERM (Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale), Member of the Centre for Mental Health of the Italian Ministry of Health and the Centre for the Children and Adolescents of the Italian Ministry of Labour and Social Policy. He is also Editor of the magazines “Developmental Clinical Psychology” and “Childhood and Adolescence”. He is a Member of the Scientific Committee of the magazine “Attachment and Human Development” and of the journals “Kinderanalyse” and “Richard and Piggle”.
He was a speaker at the 5th WAIPAD (World Association for Infant Psychiatry) Congress, on the
theme: “Longitudinal perspectives about pregnancy, early mother-child interactions and kind of child attachment”, in Chicago in September 1992. He was invited to the Department of Psychology at the University of Berkeley in September 1992. He was an Invited Speaker at the Conference of the University of Milan on “Developmental Neuropsychobiology. Theoretical models and disorders in children.” (Milan, 18-20 February 1993); a Speaker at the 3rd International Psychoanalytical Association Conference on Psychoanalytic Research, where he presented the report “Reciprocal Interactions between Real and Historical Baby” (London, 12-13 March 1993); an Invited Speaker at the 60th Anniversary Meeting of the Society for Research in Child Development (New
Orleans, USA, 25-28 March 1993); and an Invited Speaker at the International Psychoanalytical Association Fifth Conference on Psychoanalytic Research, where he presented the report “Attachment and Affect Regulation in Adolescence” (London, 10-11 March 1995).
He offered Clinical Supervision and participated in the Scientific Committee of the Blue Roof from October 1999 to October 2005. He was Director of the Bachelor’s Degree course in “Evaluation and Consulting Clinic” and of the M.Sc. “Dynamic Psychology and Clinical Child, Adolescent and Family” at the University  of Rome “La Sapienza”. He was also the Director of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Clinical Psychology, University “La Sapienza”, Rome, a Member of the Task Force of the American Psychiatric Association on “Psychiatric Diagnosis and Assessment” for DSM-V. He received a grant from the International Psychoanalytical Association for his Research Project on “Neurobiology and maternal behavior.”
