Daniele La Barbera was born in 1954 in Palermo. In 1979, he graduated cum laude in Medicine from Palermo University with a thesis on the Autogenic Training. In 1983, he specialized cum laude in Psychiatry. Later, he worked for many years in the Psychiatric clinic of the Palermo University Hospital. He has been teaching at Palermo University since 1993. He is Associate Professor of Psychotherapy at the Institute for Neuropsychiatry, Full Professor of Clinical Psychology and Psychiatry at the Neuroscience Department and Director of the degree course in Psychiatric Rehabilitation Techniques. Previously head of the Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Clinical Psychology unit in the Palermo University Hospital, he now manages the Hospital’s Psychiatry unit. He is a member of the Presidency Committee of the Palermo School of Medicine, and he is the delegate of the School Dean on matters regarding Disabilities and Communication. He directed the University’s residency training programme in Psychiatry for nine years, and is currently head of the Advanced Master’s Courses in Psychotechnology and Physiopathology of the New Media; Psycho-Oncology; Art Therapies and Expressive Techniques; Disability Evaluation and Treatment; and Psychological, Biomedical, Social and Legal Aspects of Infertility. He also teaches in the PhD course in Neuroscience at the Pharmacological Sciences Department. He teaches Psychotherapy and Psychiatry in the University’s residency training programme in Psychiatry. He also teaches Psychiatry in residency training programmes in Neurology, Child Neuropsychiatry, Geriatrics, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Internal Medicine, Endocrinology and Cardiology.
